230kV Customer Interconnection at Potash Mine

CLIENT:

SaskPower / PCS

LOCATION:

Allan, SK

ROLE:

Commissioning Coordinator

PROJECT YEAR:

2016

Like all large industrial customers with a transmission connection to their customer-owned substation, utility protection, metering, and control are located onsite, interfacing with their equipment at a demarcation point. The project scope included installing a fiber optic connection to the external network, a remote terminal unit (RTU), network equipment, and integrating the tripping signals with the customer’s Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS).

Thank you for making this job be successful both from a technical aspect and from a safety aspect

Brent Wagner – Mill Electrical General Foreman

Utility/customer projects are always unique due to the teamwork and communication required between two organizations. This project demanded even more coordination, as it involved leading the commissioning at the mine site while simultaneously orchestrating the commissioning at three other SaskPower sites for the associated line reconfiguration!
