Professional Biography

Curiosity and hard work have earned me opportunities in diverse settings—substations, underground mines, manufacturing plants—and even leading a team that heli-lifted an excavator into Northern Saskatchewan to connect remote communities to the fiber optic network. At these places I have commissioned next-generation SCADA systems, restored systems after failure, and invented new tools and work methods. Outside of work, my interests span from backcountry hiking to investigative writing on local history.

One day, my personal and professional interests collided. My manager challenged me to find a scalable solution for our design team’s growing workload. I took my video editing hobby and combined it with my technical knowledge to create training videos for new team members. The pilot project quickly gained traction, with each video receiving hundreds of views. I then looked for efficiencies in the software designers were using and found ways to cut the learning curve. Soon, new designers were progressing from rookie to rockstar.
