PM&P FLEXIVEYOR SHUTDOWN MAINTENANCE

CLIENT:

Potash Corp. Saskatchewan

LOCATION:

Lanigan, SK

ROLE:

Field Technologist

PROJECT YEAR:

2007

During a maintenance shutdown, field modifications were required on a Prairie Machine & Parts (PM&P) Flexiveyor that had recently entered service. Each of the 15 carts that make up the mobile 300′ conveyor belt was equipped with a WEG VFD to drive the tram. When tramming uphill or downhill, mechanical regeneration was backfeeding the VFD, causing an error. To address this, each of the 15 carts was equipped with a dynamic braking resistor, and the VFD settings were modified. All work was completed in an underground.
