Power Factor Correction Controller Retrofit

CLIENT:

Erco Worldwide

LOCATION:

Saskatoon, SK

ROLE:

Lead Field Technologist

PROJECT YEAR:

2010

The plant had a two-stage capacitor bank for power factor correction (PFC) regulated by an obsolete controller that failed. The replacement controller required modifications to integrate with the existing ladder logic. Additionally, because the replacement was not an exact match, it was necessary to devise a commissioning methodology to validate programming by testing the load versus reactance pickup curve.
