Special Protection Scheme for Customer Backup Generators

CLIENT:

SaskPower / Husky

LOCATION:

Lloydminster, AB

ROLE:

TeleControl

PROJECT YEAR:

2012

The Lloydminster Husky Upgrader has backup generators that require periodic testing as part of a preventative maintenance plan. Backup generator operation can potentially backfeed the grid, so a special protection scheme is needed. Our five-person TeleControl team worked at both the SaskPower switching station and the Husky site, 2 km apart. The project required us to minimize the cutover outage due to the impact on the Meridian Co-generator, demanding precise coordination and confident execution.

Special compliments to the TeleControl crew on their technical skills and customer service. Their services were appriciated

Bruce Osman – Husky Engineer
